Systancia, software publisher specialised in virtualisation solutions, supports the CAT Group, leading automotive logistics company, in implementing an infrastructure relying on desktop virtualisation.
The CAT Group gives access to the highest quality services in terms of automotive logistics throughout the world. As an automotive logistics specialist, CAT offers tailor-made solutions for all logistics needs. They are fully committed to delivering vehicles or parts anywhere in the world, strictly to deadline, at the best cost.
In 2008, their clients placed more than 2.2 million vehicles and over 25 million parcels, to transport throughout their strategic markets. They chose CAT for the reliability, performance and comprehensive range of services they offer across two areas of expertise: Vehicle Logistics and Cargo Logistics. The group is located in 23 countries, with 3,000 employees and achieved a turnover of 936 million euros in 2009.
With its main activity being focused on logistics, the CAT Group has always positioned IT at the heart of its strategy. As part of the evolution of their Information Systems, they have chosen to rely on an application virtualisation solution to rationalise their operational costs while optimising their IT infrastructure.
After carefully studying the various available offers on the market, the CAT group has chosen Systancia’s solution: AppliDis Fusion 4 for its advanced functionalities, ease of use and implementation, and its financial accessibility.
This infrastructure has been set up in conjunction with the integrator: dotgreen, and includes various specific in-house projects. The first part of the project (Business Process Outsourcing) consisted in setting up an outsourced solution to manage suppliers’ payment and dispute settlement, with a third-party supplier. In this context, business applications had to be available through low-speed Internet. The CAT Group network also had to be fully secured for this project.
The following projects aim at supporting the CAT group whose applications are constantly evolving to turn into new solutions. Systancia’s AppliDis solution appeared as the best solution to avoid telecoms constraints as well as a costly investment in new infrastructures.
More than 25 applications will be virtualised through AppliDis Fusion from Systancia, on more than 200 sites throughout the world, in 23 different countries with a direct access to the service 24/7.
For the CAT group, « The ease of use was a crucial element to decide on a solution for such complex projects. The AppliDis solution enabled us to publish applications very quickly: less than 3 months for our Business Process Outsourcing project and 1 month for our payroll management system. » « AppliDis is an easy to use and very efficient tool, which allows to deploy large virtualisation projects. We are very satisfied with our choice and with the professionalism of the Systancia’s teams who supported us efficiently throughout the whole process. »
Christophe Corne, Systancia’s President and Founder: « We are delighted to support the CAT Group in their virtualisation project. This shows once again our capacity to work closely with our customers, as well as our capacity to work within global and outsourced infrastructures, which are located on the 5 continents.»
